Happy Birthday Andrea!

Today is my daughter Andrea's birthday. She loves bright colours and patterns so I went through all my scraps and came up with this! I don't often have the courage to mix and match quite so much but I had lots of fun with this so .... for next week's class cards everyone will be able to choose different papers, die cuts and stamps to create three cards with the same basic layout, but a totally different look. It's a very fast card to make ...what takes time is choosing which papers to use and how to arrange them to your liking. It should be a fun class!

Unique!

Last Saturday's mixed media canvas class with Kim was so much fun. I really enjoyed watching the development of these unique pieces of art from start to finish. Kim did a fabulous job, guiding everyone through the steps, while allowing them complete freedom to choose the elements and arrangement. The results are spectacular as you can see. Thanks to the ladies for allowing me to share these on my blog.
I haven't "had a go" at one of these yet, and to be honest, I'm afraid that if I start, I'll be so obsessed, that nothing else will get done around here ...lol! I'm sure we'll be doing these again soon though, so be sure to sign up nice and early when the next class is scheduled as there is quite a lot of prep involved.

Back to class!

Sorry to be so late posting pics of this week's cards. I have two done and still have to work on our Christmas card. Looking forward to seeing everyone again!

Pirate Palooza!

Kingsville's Pirate Palooza sidewalk sales and Treasure Hunt were lots of fun this weekend. The glass in the lower half of the shop door is covered in little handprints from all the kids coming in asking for the word clue:) The ladies in Kim's mixed media class had a great time and each of them completed a fabulous "one of a kind" canvas. We enjoyed a delicious lunch from Merli's Cafe, delivered by Frank and best of all ...the weather cooperated for all those businesses with outdoor sales. I'm really looking forward to attending the "Just Ask" art show and sale at Pelee Island Winery today after church ... so glad it's sunny and a little cooler for all those artists/vendors sitting outdoors. If you didn't make it there yesterday, why not stop by the show today and support some local artists and artisans. It runs from 10 - 4 ... maybe I'll see you there!
Card classes start up again this Wednesday morning and Thursday evening ... can't wait to see all my lovely ladies around the table again! It's only been a couple of weeks but it seems much longer!
Have yourself a wonderful Sunday:)

Another sneak peek from Tim Holtz!

This one is from Stampers Anonymous. My favourite is the mini holidays set. I love the silhouette gent with the wreath. Which are your favourite Tim Holtz products so far? There will be lots of videos coming from the show next week, so even if we can't be there in person, we can still catch a peek or two.... right?

A zippin' good time!

Hey everyone ...I'm back from vacation and as you can see from the photos, I had lots of fun:) It was a wonderful week ...great weather, great company, a fabulous place to stay and lots of relaxing. The ziplining was the highlight of the trip for me. One of the lines was 1000 ft long and another was 1500 ft above the forest floor. Our guides were so great that I didn't even feel nervous ...OK ...maybe a little bit after one of the young girls in our group didn't catch quite enough speed on the downslope to make it all the way up to the next platform. She slid back down to the middle and had to literally "hang out" while the guide made his way out to her and brought her back. I was quite relieved when I "landed" that one!
Now I have to try and get back into the swing of things here at the store before our town sidewalk sales this weekend. Classes will start up again next week, and there should be lots of new goodies arriving by the end of this week, so be sure to stop in and say hi!

Vacation Time

Just a quick reminder for everyone that the store will be closed next week until Thursday. I'll be away for the week, but Danielle will be here on Thursday, Friday and Saturday for regular store hours. As mentioned in the newsletter, classes will begin again on Wednesday July 24th.
I'm looking forward to a fun week of vacation in Tenessee and hoping that those stinky flies will be gone when we get back ..lol!

Have a great week!

Happy Birthday Canada and card contest winner

Here is the winning card from the June contest. Lucille created this lovely design using a Sizzix Daisy die, Cuttlebug honeycomb embossing folder, and papers from Basic Grey's "Paper Cottage" 6 x 6 inch pad. I love the way she cut out the patterned papers to fit inside the embossed pattern. The rules said no stamps were to be used, so Lucille added an handwritten sentiment. All the entries were so varied and imaginative and provided great inspiration for everyone who saw them ...thanks ladies. Hope you are all enjoying the long weekend. Even though it's cool and rainy outside, we have lots to celebrate today!
I really love living in Canada!!!
