Another great year!

Well folks, that wraps up 2014 for the shop! Thanks so much for continuing to support my business. It's been a great year and I really love working from home so it looks like I'll be hanging around for another year (fingers crossed!)  I'll be doing inventory for the next few days so the shop is closed until Monday January 5th at noon. Wishing you all a very Happy New Year! See you in 2015!

Holiday hours and another big SALE!

Christmas is just around the corner and the shop will be closed as of 6 pm today until Saturday December 27th when the big year- end inventory clearance sale begins. We will be returning from visiting family in Toronto on Boxing Day so I won't open the shop until 1 pm on the Saturday ... just in case we get hit with a storm like last year and have to stay another night! The sale will be on for three days, Saturday the 27th and Monday and  Tuesday the 29th and 30th and there will be lots of deals because I have to start the dreaded inventory count on New Year's Eve, so the more I sell the less I have to count ...lol!

Here are the holiday hours:

CLOSED     Saturday December 20 - Friday December 26 inclusive.

OPEN          Saturday December 27:   1 - 4
OPEN          Monday  December 29:  10 - 4
OPEN          Tuesday  December 30:  10 - 4

CLOSED     Wednesday Dec 31 - Sunday Jan 4 inclusive.

Regular hours ( Mon- Fri noon till 6 ) resume Monday January 5

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Ready or not...

I am never "ready" for Christmas in the traditional sense of cleaning, baking shopping etc. but as I don't have a lot of people to shop for and we are travelling to be with family for Christmas, I am feeling relatively relaxed about it this year (I say relatively because I still have cards to make...lol!)
This is the last full week to shop before Christmas. Next week I'll be open Monday and Tuesday by appointment only for last minute gift card purchases or order pick ups etc. I'll be placing my final order for the year first thing tomorrow morning so let me know today if you want to add anything!

Last class of 2014 and one I forgot to upload ...

I forgot to upload the third card from last class, so here it is (the top one), along with the last three for the year. The last one is my attempt at a white on white card. I couldn't resist adding a little antique linen distress ink to the embossed snowflake background along with some stardust glitter pen highlights, so I guess technically it's not white on white, but you get the idea. I've had the snowflake die for close to two years and I'm pretty sure this is the first card I've made with it! Next Wednesday morning is the last card class for 2014. It's been a great first year in the house and I'm so thankful to all the fun folks who come to class. They really brighten my days with laughter and keep me searching for new ideas and techniques to share.
Looking forward to even more creative fun in 2015!

Last chance to order in 2014!

My final order of the year will be going in early next week so please be sure to let me know by Monday December 15th if there is anything you would like me to add. Our last morning card class of the year will be next Wednesday, December 17th and we'll begin again on January 7th.

New arrivals.

Look what arrived today!

blue and sparkly!

Be prepared to go home from class with a little(?) extra sparkle this week. I have two ready and I've a feeling I may as well keep with the glitter theme for the third card as it's everywhere already ...lol!

Raining Cats & Dogs 6-Card Set & Box

This is a great video tutorial including measurements. I have just about all the products in stock and of course you could use papers you already have (dig into that stash you've been hoarding ...lol.) The little mixed media boxes are perfect for gift giving and I have them in Kraft, black and cream colours.

Shop the Neighbourhood!

This Saturday lots of local businesses are taking part in something called "Shop the Neighbourhood."
I will be having an Open House here from 10 - 4 this Saturday November 29th with some great deals and tasty refreshments. I hope you will take some time to stop in to say hello and take advantage of the specials which are being offered for that day only. I have so many lovely things in stock, especially for the holidays. Feel free to spread the word and bring a friend! Hope to see you soon!

The best thing to hold onto in life is each other!

I used this stamped sentiment on the three mixed media canvases I gave to my siblings this weekend. We had a wonderful family gathering at my niece's beautiful home in Toronto, and although we don't exchange gifts at Christmas, I had been planning to give them each a canvas with this adorable photo of the three of them taken around 1950 ( a few years before I arrived!) Gotta love those ears those pants and that hair bow ...lol! I had so much fun making them and seeing the looks on the faces of the younger family members when they saw that photo! We had seven decades worth of family present on Saturday and it was so good to be together. On Sunday we visited Steve's Mom and Dad to celebrate his Dad's 97th birthday. I am feeling very blessed (and a wee but tired!) today.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

I haven't begun decorating or played any Christmas music yet but there are plenty of signs that the holidays are just around the corner here in the shop. Here's a peek at some of the stamps and dies in stock (there are lots more.  Some of these designs will not be available for re-order before Christmas so if you see something you like, get it now! Only one more Memory Box order to go in before Christmas and I'm putting it in on Friday, so let me know ASAP if there is something you want.

New products

I just finished unpacking another order. New products include 20 sheet packs of Mirri cardstock (shiny) in assortments of 10 gold/10 silver and 5 each red, green, gold and silver. ONLY $6 per pack. The individual sheets from Bazzil cost $1 per sheet and the silver has been on backorder for a couple of weeks so I thought I'd give this a try. There are some lovely Christmas stamps in the store and a bumper crop of dies. Pretty Christmas paper pads and LOTS of inspiration. Why not bundle up and come and see? It's cold outside but it's toasty warm in the shop and the coffee is always free:)

Breaking out the glitter!

You may not be able to tell from the photos but these are very shiny sparkly cards. The top one has sparkle embossing powder over the entire surface, the middle one has Viva glitter pen accents on the pine cones and the last one has Glitter Ritz EVERYWHERE ... just like me ...lol!
I've been treating myself to some new Stampin' Up stamps recently so I thought I do a class using a couple of them. If anyone would like to order either of these sets or anything in the catalogue, please let me know.

Open for a little while today!

I have a couple of customers who can't get in on weekdays and needed to pick up orders today, so I will be open from 10am until 1 pm today. The next Saturday opening will be November 29th.

Happy Halloween ... here are 3 Christmas cards!

Yes it's Halloween and I'm posting Christmas cards ... sorry! The Thursday night class already made these last night and so now the Wednesday morning ladies know what's coming! Quick and easy cards! I'm loving this Nativity die and have made the same or similar card in several colour combos. Lots of fabulous new Christmas dies arrived today, but I am headed to the Zonta Club Christmas card extravaganza to make cards with 72 participants tomorrow and as I'll have my wares to sell there, there may not be much left on Monday (she said crossing her fingers...lol!) I guess I'll be placing another order next week. Let me know if there is something you need/want:)

Variations on a theme.

For our first Christmas card class of the year I decided to use up some very pretty paper that has been around for a while and try to make three cards with the same colour palette. I only had 5 sheets so I had to be careful how I used it as I never know for sure how many people will attend a class and I didn't want to run out. I'm really happy with the way they turned out ... love these colours! Even though I don't have any of this patterned paper left to sell, there are lots of other colours/patterns that could look just as pretty. I finally got more of the silver foil card stock in today but I'm still waiting for the gold. Hope you enjoy the cards. Thanks for stopping by:)

Closed this week.

I am heading to Cobourg this afternoon to be with my sister. Her husband's funeral will be held on Thursday, but I may stay until the weekend. This means the shop will be closed all week. I'm very sorry for any inconvenience, but I'm sure you understand. The shop will be re-open on  Tuesday October 14th and our Wednesday card class will be on the 15th.

Sad news.

I'm sorry to say that I will be cancelling the world card making day event at Merli's tomorrow. I just found out that my sister's husband died this morning as a result of a fall on Wednesday, and I'm not sure I could handle doing the event tomorrow.  I don't now yet what the arrangements will be, but I will definitely be out of town at some point in the week ahead. I will post any changes to my hours or class cancellations  here, but please call before coming to the shop to be sure I am home.
Be sure to hug your loved ones each day ... we never know how long we will have together, so let's make each moment count.

A Pink Christmas?

I'm not really into pink but I like to try non traditional colours for Christmas cards once in a while and I love the way this turned out. The second card is much nicer than it looks in the photo ... I have a hard time photographing shiny, sparkly stuff. Love the fall colours in the square wreath card. The new papers from Reminisce are so much fun to work with. I think I could do fall cards year round, but after next week's class we'll be focusing on Christmas cards as there aren't too many classes left before we have to get them in the mail ...YIKES!

Goodbye September ...

... hello October! It's not often that I see something while I'm out shopping and immediately get an idea for how to use it, but that's what happened when I saw these cute orange flowerpots at Dollarama a couple of weeks ago. Since I bought them I've been searching for "just the right twigs" to make the spooky little trees from my imagination. Yesterday, my friend Lynne brought me a beautiful bouquet of twigs ( 'cause that what friends are for right?) and Voila ... a cute little Halloween display. The Sizzix alphabet dies I have are the perfect size for the flower pots and I cut the letters from black vinyl. I like these sparkly bats which I cut using a Memory Box die and POW glitter paper. Now ...  if I saw a real bat, I would probably scream and faint in that order...lol!

Welcome Autumn!

What a beautiful day to welcome the season of Autumn. These new papers are begging me to make something with them ...
