Love is in the air!

This week's cards can be used as Valentine, Anniversary or just because I love you cards. The sentiments can be changed around too. The first one uses an Impression Obsession die and the die cut inlay technique. The second and third cards use an MFT die which gives you the makings of two cards each time you use the die. I will have an extra little project as a Valentine's surprise for this week, because we all LOVE surprises right???????

Brrrr!

It's a bit on the chilly side out there today. Just finished clearing the snow from the driveway (not enough to be called shovelling really!) and putting some salt on the icy spots. Now all I need is some company ...lol!
If you can't make it today, I'll be open tomorrow (Saturday Jan 31st) from 10 - 4. Hope to see you soon:)

Price increase coming!

Just a quick heads up that there will be some price increases coming in the next month due to the crazy U.S exchange rate and the fact that I haven't raised my prices on most products in 5 years. Paper and cardstock will remain the same for the time being but just about everything else will be going up in price by mid February or earlier as new stock arrives. I hate to do it but I'm afraid it's long overdue and necessary in order to stay in business.

how to watercolor with Distress Inks

This week's class

Here are the three cards we'll be making in this week's class. The first card is stamped using the glue pad and a fabulous stamp from Indigo Blu called Bare Trees. After stamping the image, I simply poured the Mega Flakes (also from Indigo Blu) onto the image and then patted them down gently. All that's left to do then is to buff it with a little "scoochy foam" (that really is what it's called ... it's not one of my home-made technical terms ... lol!) I am in love with this stamp and with the gilding technique. I have several colours of Mega Flakes in stock as well as the glue pad and Scoochy foam. On the second card I used some embossed paper which was in the Stampin' Up clearance sale before Christmas. It's all white with a glossy leaf pattern and I knew when I saw it that I wanted to use it with my Gelatos. Can't wait to share this technique at class. So easy and so much fun. If you use Versamark and clear embossing powder you can use your background stamps to achieve the same look as the embossed paper I used. The stamps on this card and the third card are all from Stampin' Up. I've bought way too many of them recently and haven't been using them so I thought I should remedy that! The large butterfly is a Memory Box die which many of you have bought here. I use it so often. It's out of stock at the moment but I will be placing an order later this week:)

It's time .....

Well I've been thinking about it and talking about it and I've finally decided to just DO IT! I'm cleaning out my stash and having a "previously loved" sale this Saturday from noon till 4 pm. There will be stamps, dies, paper, embellishments and anything else I can get sorted out between now and lunchtime Saturday. Everything will be cash and carry so clean out your piggy banks! All the sale items will be on the big table in the classroom, but of course you can also buy stuff from the shop too. Door opens at 12 noon... early bird gets the worm (or stamp, die etc. you get the idea!) Hope you can make it!

Very excited to announce a new program beginning on Monday Jan 26th at the Kingsville Library. It's called The Art of Journaling. There is no cost but you must register at the library. Please share the info with friends who may be interested. We are limiting the group size to 15 plus myself and Astrid who will facilitate the program. We hope to see some familiar faces and meet new friends too! Here's the info:

Join us for the Art of Journaling on the last Monday of the month at the Kingsville Public Library.  Each month we will be presented with a theme to jump start our creative thinking. Throughout the year we will be exploring different ideas and art journaling techniques.  We will begin by investigating the theme of “Light” through creative collage techniques.  Supplies will be available for our first meeting but participants will be required to bring their own supplies for future sessions.  If you do have a few basic art supplies please bring these with you for our first session – glue stick, a pen or marker and one or two magazines, photos etc. that you might want to use in your collage.  Jump-start your creativity for 2015 and join us for our first session on Monday, January 26th at 6:30pm
