Thanks for all the hugs!

I have the most wonderful customers in the world. Ever since I shared the awful news that I received on New Years Day that my sister Joan had been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer, I have had a steady stream of people offering prayers, practical help and best of all ...hugs! I think I've had more hugs this week than at any other time in my life and they have really lifted my spirits. As I prepare for what is sure to be an emotionally difficult time, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone for your e-mails, visits and encouraging words. I am praying that I can be strong for Joan and really make the most of this precious time together. The store will be closed for the next two weeks with the exception of Saturday March 3 and Saturday March 10th. Danielle will be here from 10 till 4 both those days so stop in and see her. I will post again as soon as I return. God bless.

Another Blue Christmas

Our first "monthly" Christmas Card Class (CCC) is scheduled for this Saturday and I have to admit, I've been struggling with ideas and have only two of the three ready to share. I'm a little preoccupied with my upcoming visit to see my sister in England and it's been hard to focus the past few days. I got the first sample done a couple of days ago. It uses a silver peel-off sticker and glitter gel pens plus a silver doily. Simple but striking, and it could be re-created using so many different images and colours. As I pondered the fact that I'm feeling a little "blue" and was starting to panic that I didn't have the other two cards done, I realized that so many people have commented on the "Moonlit Trees" card and said they would like to make it...I could include it as one of the three class cards. I know at least one person coming to class has made it before, but I also know she won't mind doing it again. So once again, card number three will be a surprise...hope no one minds. This is the last class until mid March...I guess I'd better start coming up with some Spring/Easter designs. Thanks for stopping by.

Two outta three ain't bad

Yes I know that title is full of bad grammar but it's a great song and it fits my situation....it's only February and already I'm getting behind on my class cards!!!! I've been trying all day to get card number three done for next week's classes, but it's not happening. So...... I figured two are better than none and some of you enjoy surprises right??? So maybe the third one will be surprise this time..LOL! Sometimes the problem is not coming up with an idea, but having TOO MANY ideas and not being able to narrow it down to just one! Card number one is mostly punched and die cut with a little dry embossing. This is the first time I've used google eyes with the owl punch and I kinda like it. Card number two is a clean and simple design which I used recently for a sympathy card. Quite a few ladies who attend regular classes have a selection of distress inks and so I'll be asking you to bring two or three colours that will blend well together for this background. You could use similar shades to mine, but it would also look great in blues, purples or just about anything you can imagine! If you don't have distress inks yet you can use mine, but be warned...once you try this technique you'll be hooked. Please bring your blending tool and sponges too if you have them.
