Shutter card

OK ...  I did manage to photograph our third class card for this week, but you really need to see it in "action"
When you open the card, the "shutter" opens to reveal the stamped image behind! How cool is that? Thanks so much to Pat for sharing the idea with me. I used some of the "almost gone forever" Mamarazzi 2 paper on the front and I LOVE the black and kraft striped paper inside don't you? I still have a few of the Bo Bunny stamp sets available which have the "Oh Snap" and the camera image along with the camera film strip stamp (which you probably can't see in the photo because I stamped it on each side of the black shutter using Versamark only for a subtle tone on tone look). It's a very cute stamp set for just $5. The HB image on the front and "a little late" on the inside are older SU stamps that I hung onto. Looking forward to a fun class this week:)

Getting into the alcohol ....

Alcohol inks that is ...lol! Now that I have your attention I should tell you to wear old clothes to class this week as alcohol inks are permanent and will ruin your clothes if you spill or splatter them! That being said they are Sooooooo much fun to play with and everyone's cards will be unique as it's impossible to get the same result twice. Have I tempted you yet?
Notice that I left the card design very clean and simple as I wanted the ink patterns to be the star of the show. There is plenty of space for a stamped sentiment if anyone wants to add one though. The third card this week is an interactive one which I am unable to photograph so you'll just have to visit  the shop to see it in action ... bwaaahaha!

Yard sale this Saturday!

What a beautiful day and it's supposed to be good weather through the weekend! That's great news because this Saturday is our annual neighbourhood yard sale and I'm hoping to get rid of a bunch of stuff! When I took over the lower level for the shop, we ended up with a lot of stuff and no place to put it. Hubby had a bar down here and we have lots of glasses, pub mirrors and posters etc that need a new home. If I have help on Saturday morning I can open the shop, (although parking will be an issue) but if you need something and can come after lunch, hubby will be here to take care of the yard sale and I can be available for the shop. In the meantime, I'm still waiting for the order that was supposed to arrive yesterday to show up ... Grrrr! Enjoy your day however you spend it!

Making room for more dies!

More Memory Box dies and stencils arrived today. This past weekend I decided to move all the Memory Box dies into clear storage bins as I was running out of hanging space for so many different brands and sizes; I have such a large selection of Memory Box that there wasn't much space left for anything else! Now they are very easy to flip through and find what you need and I have space to display a few other brands ... lol!  A few people have been asking about the new Tattered Lace dies. I don't plan on carrying  these dies in stock but I would be happy to special order them. If you see them on-line and would like me to get you a price, just send me an e-mail. I will be getting them from the same place I order Memory Box and Impression Obsession from. I can also order Cottage Cutz and Cheery Lynn dies from the same place and I put in an order once a month. My next order will probably go in around mid June so take a look at what these companies have to offer and let me know what you think.

More class cards

Here's a cute card using Memory Box dies. I decided to use this as our third card for the last class instead of doing two of the flowerpot cards.

This weeks cards include a shaker card with sequins inside.

Here's a clean and simple card featuring a stamped and die cut flower. I heat embossed the script onto the black flower layer and used the same stamp on the smaller layer with black archival ink on white cardstock. The flowers are from Tim Holtz Tattered Florals and I used a Viva pearl Pen to make the green dots.

Another all occasion type card ( always nice to have a few in your stash). This time I used the same script stamp and punched the flowers out. The border was created using a Spellbinders set. The white panel is embossed using a Darice embossing folder which I seem to keep reaching for. It's very versatile and sells for just $5.

Thanks for taking a peek and I hope you like the cards.

National Scrapbooking Day

Did you know that tomorrow (May 3rd) is National Scrapbooking Day? I did ... but it also happens to be the best date for a get together with family members who I don't see nearly often enough ... my sister Pauline, my brothers Peter and Tony and their wives Sharon and Kathleen. They all live 5 or 6 hours drive from me so getting together is a challenge, but this weekend worked for everyone so ... I hope you have a wonderful creative day with your scrapbooks and since I'm not open tomorrow to help you celebrate on the "big day" how about a sale on all in stock 12 x 12 patterned paper? Starting today and all next week I'll take 40% off all patterned papers (excluding the ones already in the sale bin) 40% off all scrapbooking kits plus $2 off the marked price of any 6 x 6 paper pads in the bin on the sales desk. Don't forget to check out the 30% discount bins too ...I'm always adding goodies to it!
Happy National Scrapbooking Day!
