hearts- a -plenty

Here are the other two Valentine cards we'll make in class on Wednesday. I got the idea for the shopping bag with the hearts spilling out from an old card magazine and I think it's so cute and could be adapted to other occasions. The large heart on the "I love you the most" card is actually heat embossed with red tinsel embossing powder and it's super sparkly, but unfortunately, the camera didn't pick up the sparkle:( Anyway, that's it for today. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Brrrrrrrr!

It's mighty chilly around here these days! Anyone would think it was Winter!!!! Well it's almost time to wave goodbye to January and as I look outside and see the snowflakes flying around and everyone bundled up, I must admit I'd be quite happy to skip February altogether to reach spring a little faster if it weren't for the fact that there are so many fun cards and projects for Valentines day! At next Wednesdays class we'll make 4 Valentine cards, but I'm only going to share two photos today because......yep, you guessed it...my camera is in the wrong place again :( These first two are very cute. The squirrel one says "totally nuts for you" and the inside of the froggy card reads "Have I TOAD you lately that I love you?" I'll have pics of the other two by tomorrow...no really...I will!
Stay warm!

As promised......

Well I finally got around to uploading pics of the little coaster book I mentioned in my previous post. I used only 4 coasters and the scraps left from the other two projects I made with the vintage Valentine paper. You may have gathered by now from the lack of photos in my little books that I'm not a scrapbooker ...YET! One of these days I'll find the courage to tackle the mountains of photos in that deep dark closet and put some into these little creations, but for now they are unspoiled by pics of me or anyone else! So feel free to imagine your own lovely images in the blank spaces LOL! Now that I've tried one of these, I know I'll be making more...they are so quick and easy to complete. I've been working on a few different Valentine themed cards for an upcoming class and will post pics of them in the next few days. Hope you're enjoying a relaxing Sunday....I'm off to make dinner!

Vintage Valentines

I've been having fun playing with the gorgeous Vintage Valentine papers from Fancy Pants. I love the way these designs coordinate and I thought I'd share a couple of projects I've done so far. First I made a little photo wallet which I'll be offering as both a class and a kit in February. The photos show the basic design without pics or embellishments. We'll make two of these in class...one to keep and one to give away! The second item is a tag booklet I found on Papercraft Planet. Susanna Boyd designed the album as a Christmas tag book and hers was just gorgeous. I've modified her design a bit and made a Valentine tag book. The book holds 8 tags and I used 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 pieces of cardstock for the tags which is Artist Trading Card size. I just played around with some basic techniques on each card and it was so much fun to make. You could also use this to hold wallet size photos! The book stands alone for display, but I made a little belly band to hold it closed too. Yesterday I made a little chipboard coaster book using the leftover scraps from these two projects. I can't believe how much mileage I got from a few pieces of paper! I'll post pics of the coaster book as soon as I take some..lol!
There are some great bargains on paper in the store right now...a whole rack of gorgeous papers including some Basic Gray Eskimo Kisses for just 75 cents a sheet!
There are also a few fabulous Christmas embellishments priced to sell quickly at 40% off so be sure to stop in before they disappear!

Twice the Fun

So..... my good friend Jennifer completed this layout almost a week ago using the Ninabrook design kit and a few photos from her family Christmas and I'm just now getting around to posting it! I must apologize for the poor quality of the photographs. It was really hard to avoid the glare as I have a really bright fluorescent light over the crop table at the store and this was the only shot I could get while standing on a chair! This is the layout we'll be using for this week's class. If you can't make it to the class I have a few kits available with full instructions for only $15 plus tax...a great deal!
It was pretty quiet in the store this week...I think the January blahs are beginning to set in (not to mention credit card bill trauma..lol!) A few ladies did make it to our card class this week and did a fabulous job on the four cards. I took advantage of the lull to get busy on a couple of Valentine projects using some of the gorgeous new papers that arrived recently. I'll take some pics on Monday and post them early next week...promise! The sale on Basic Gray paper ended today, but I have a small selection of Eskimo Kisses Paper and embellishments left that will go on sale for half price next week while quantities last!
Hope you're enjoying a break from shovelling snow with the mild weather as much as I am. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Lots of new goodies arrived!

Yesterday my first order of the year arrived and it's taken me hours to input all the stuff into the computer! That's my excuse for not having my samples ready yet for next week's class! LOL!! I got two of the four cards done and I hope to have the other two posted by tomorrow night....fingers crossed! I do miss having all my stuff at home.... I keep going to my craft room to get something nad remembering, "Oh no... it's at the store! Only one more day left for the sale on Christmas paper, but the good news is I'm extending my 30% off all in stock Basic Gray paper for one more week. This is your chance to clean up on Nook and Pantry, Lemonade, Indian Summer and Eskimo Kisses Paper while quantities last. The Vintage Valentine papers that arrived today are just gorgeous and the Actopus to Zelephant thermograph paper is so adorable it's perfect for framing just as it is. Lots of new baby and wedding stuff arrived as well as tons of Inkadinkado clear stamps and a great selection of Snag 'em stamps too. Hope you're staying warm wherever you are. Have a great weekend!

Out with the old.......

Although we are already 4 days into the new year, here I am with my first post of 2010! First of all let me wish everyone a very Happy (if belated) New Year.
I hope everyone survived the busyness of the Christmas season and found time for relaxing with family and friends. We were fortunate enough to have all three of our kids home for Christmas this year and we spent a lovely quiet day together before heading off to Toronto to visit with extended family for a couple of days. The weather was kind to us for the long drive and we arrived home safe and sound late Sunday evening.
It's hard to believe more than a week has passed and it's time to take down all the decorations already. Lots of people took advantage of our great year end sale last week, and I've decided to extend the sale on all Christmas paper until Saturday January 9th. Basic Gray Nook and Pantry, Eskimo Kisses, Lemonade and Indian Summer papers are also 30% off right now so be sure to stop in for the best selection.
I've e -mailed our January class list out everyone on my list, so if you didn't get a copy, please let me know and I'll update my files and get the info to you ASAP.
Next week's Monday and Wednesday class will be four all occasion cards and the cost is $20 plus GST. On Friday, January 8th, we will have our first crop night of 2010. Jennifer will be hosting and only 8 spots are available so call and book yours NOW!
Our new hours for crop nights are 7 to 11 pm and the cost is just $5 including GST.

Best of all you if you spend $20 or more (before taxes)in the store on crop nights or at a class, you'll get a 20% discount on any regular priced merchandise. So what are you waiting for....?:)
We've spent the last couple of days doing inventory and I've still got a few things left to count today before I can finalize the new order I want to put in today. There are some very cool new products coming out that I can hardly wait to get into the store, but I need to make room for it first. Out with the old in with the new, as my Grandma used to say! (although I don't think she wasn't speaking about scrapbooking supplies lol)
Have a great Monday!
