It happens every so often...I just can't seem to put a card together! No matter how many stamps, layouts, techniques and papers I have at my disposal, if the creative spark is AWOL there's just nothing happening:(
I have struggled mightily this week to put the finishing touch to my second class card which is pictured above. This card was inspired by one that Karen brought into the store, but her version has cupcakes where my ice cream cones are. (Hey it's hot outside OK???)
Karen has been bringing in some fabulous cards which are all over the store inspiring many Oohs and Aah's from customers. She taught her first class yesterday and it was so much fun. Everyone did a great job and you can be sure she'll be teaching again very soon! My third card is a Christmas card which I haven't yet photographed so it will be "the surprise" card...lol!
If I don't get around to posting again before the weekend, (very likely!) have yourself a wonderful holiday weekend. I'm taking Saturday off and Danielle will be here so stop in and say hi if you're around town. I have a very limited number of Tim's new summer distress ink stacks available and they won't last long......

Triple layer stamping
I apologize for the revolting colour of yellow in this photo. It's actually a very pretty lemon shade in real life. This is a fun technique that I've been wanting to try for a long time. It's not difficult but you do need to be sure to put your layers down straight, which is often a challenge for me....! I also discovered how fabulous the glitter gel pens look on black paper. You can't tell from the photo, but the popped up butterfly has lovely blue and yellow jewel tones. It shimmers beautifully. Be sure to bring your glitter gel pens to class this week!

Plan B
I made this card last week and wasn't sure whether to use it for class or not, but after getting some customer feedback today I added the pearl pen accents and Voila... class card number 3 is done! I had planned to do a different card, but a big box of new goodies arrived a day earlier than scheduled, so I decided I should get them out where you can all see (and buy) them...LOL! More stuff is arriving later in the week...can't wait!
Hot and Cold
It seems everyone is in a crafty mood today....the store has been buzzing with customers so I thought I'd upload these while I have the chance and before I start working on the third sample for class. As promised we are going to make one Christmas card in each class now. I used the burnished velvet technique on the Santa image, but as usual the glitter doesn't show well in the photo. The "hot" card uses one of the new Tonic border punches and the "Rock 'n Roll technique for the stamped flowers. The colours make me think of a yummy tropical cocktail! One more card to go...... stay tuned...I should have it done before supper time!

Why I'm late this time.....
So here we are after Andrea's convocation yesterday. I thought I'd share this picture as I don't have a card to share with you. I know I shouldn't use this as an excuse for not having my class cards ready, but I'm going to anyway...LOL. I promise I'll have samples up by Wednesday night for Thursday's class!

The tassel's worth the hassle!
Tomorrow I am driving to Kitchener to spend a couple of days with our daughter Andrea and attend her graduation from Sir Wilfred Laurier University's Bachelor of Education program. It's been a long haul for Andrea since she made the decision to go back and get her degree after completing a 2 year college diploma program and then working in the field of youth ministry for five years. Steve and I are both so proud of her for her dedication, hard work and sheer determination. I know she will make an excellent teacher...she's been teaching us since she could put three words together.... (I'll let you fill in blanks..!)
This is the card I made for her...totally snagged from one of my favourite You Tube channels! I hope she'll forgive my lack of originality just this once. I've been scrambling for ideas for class next week and I'm afraid you'll have to wait for the surprise, because they aren't done yet...sorry:(
Have a wonderful weekend...enjoy the sunshine and don't forget to attend the yard sale here on Monday from noon till 6 pm. Danielle and Jennifer will have some great deals for you outside, (weather permitting) and I am marking down some older stock to make room for all the new goodies that keep pouring in. My sale stuff will all be on the big table inside, so please be sure to clear it out for me and save me a job when I get back on Tuesday...LOL!
